On February 23rd, 2008, the AGTV held a special dinner to honour the 20th anniversary of the Bayerischer Jugendring (BJR) Student Exchange in Victoria at a venue that befitted the grandness of the occasion - the MCG.
The BJR program is a reciprocal exchange between families, involving the 10 week hosting of a student from Bavaria and then a return visit for 10 weeks in Germany. In the past 20 years, over 2,000 students from Victoria and Bavaria have participated in the program.
The Consul General for the Federal Republic of Germany, Herr Thomas Kessler, welcomed the 80 special guests and past students. Guests included Herr Michael Schwarz, BJR Director Development and Organisation, Herr Gerhard Boettcher, Head of BJR International Student Exchanges, Frau Eva Schulz, Goethe Institut Australien, past coordinators, group leaders, members of the first and subsequent AGTV Committees, school contact teachers, parents, and past exchange students.
