The Primary German Day Out was held on Thursday May 22nd at Melbourne Zoo and 443 students and teachers enjoyed a wonderful sunny day out.

Children visited the animals while completing the German Zoo Rally before rocking to German songs about animals with Schnappi at the Disco. Students prepared masks before the day and brought them along - prizes were awarded to the best mask from each school. A reporter from SBS Radio interviewed students for a report aired on their new show Pfiffikus.

Students completed intercultural language learning activities in preparation for the day including language learning games, comparing wildlife in Germany and Australia, making an animal mask and completing a Web Quest for Tiere im Internet for the Hanover Zoo.

Special thanks are due to Jaana Sahling for coordinating the program at the zoo, to Goethe Institut Praktikantinnen, to the AGTV Committee and to teachers who attended.
