On the weekend of 7th-9th May 1999 eighty-three students of German from 16 schools around Melbourne and country Victoria made friends and enjoyed a weekend of fun in German-language activities. This all took place in the pleasant surroundings of Camp Waterman near Monbulk.

The German Camp was very worthwhile. We enjoyed the nature trail (treasure
hunt); it was a lot of fun - not just because we got to taste several chocolate
samples and because our group won! The food at the camp was great, especially
the 'Bienenstich Kuchen'. We really enjoyed ourselves. Also the concert was
a lot of fun. Each group presented a really funny scene and all in German!

You had to have a positive mind and take part in everything to enjoy the camp.
Not only do you improve your German but actually meet all kinds of people from
different schools. Even after the German camp people gave each other their e-mails
so they can stay in touch with the new friends they made. I would like to thank
the teachers for putting up with us and especially with the singing on both
nights (which I have to say it rocked). P.S. the 'Vegemite team' ruled at the
concert!
